Help your local chapters promote democratic values

At the FCD’s Summer Strategy Session, we decided to launch a Rent an Officer to Activate Democrats (ROAD) program. Several chapters have already applied for our ROAD program, where they can “rent” an FCD Executive Board Member or Caucus Chair to come to an event on their campus. We quickly realized that teaching by example will greatly benefit our chapters that may need a little extra help with recruiting new members through tabling, planning chapter meetings, networking at DEC meetings, or even with building a strong e-board. This program will give chapters the opportunity to learn how to recruit and establish themselves on and off campus.

More importantly, the ROAD program will build relationships between FCD officers and our chapters. By seeing things for ourselves firsthand, we can truly assess the difficulties that each chapter faces. Then, we can work together to overcome them. Our 21 chapters are the heart of the FCD. It is absolutely essential that the FCD provide our chapters with all of the necessary training so that each chapter can live up to its potential, but they cannot be afraid to ask for the FCD’s help. Our officers are already planning visits to FAMU and USF!
With 2012 in the near future, we need all our chapters to be as strong as possible so that we can get out the student vote statewide. The ROAD program will play a large role in unifying the FCD and growing our membership on campuses throughout the state.
