Caucuses
The Florida College Democrats currently recognizes five caucuses; Black Caucus, Environmental Caucus, Hispanic Caucus, LGBT Caucus, and Women's Caucus.
Each caucus works to further specific goals and initiatives as part of the FCD. The caucuses also are an important source of opinion and diversity that the FCD and the Democratic Party welcome and enjoy.
Other initiatives are specific programs that serve to educate and inform the public on issues that concern college students.
Initiatives
The Florida College Democrats is currently maintains a number of initiatives, including $20.12 for 2012, Activ8, our ROAD Program, Scott Watch, and our Vote by Mail campaign. Our initiatives are built to inspire political activism and help turn our peers into informed citizens, voters, and maybe future elected officials. As we campaign for strong Democrats on our college campuses, it is crucial that college democrats statewide are well-equipped and ready to go.
Our current initiatives include:
- $20.12 for 2012 - We are inspiring political activism and campaigning for strong Democrats on our college campuses. Any donation that you are able to provide – from $20.12 to $2012 will be used to promote the Democratic Party and to excite our fellow students for the upcoming election. Your donation may be put towards the production of T-shirts, gas, or one of our events. Many people form habits in college that will remain throughout their life. With your help, we can turn our peers into informed citizens, voters, and maybe future elected officials.
- Activ8 - Every month, we will highlight a new issue or cause in need of support from eight different areas of engagement including our five caucuses. Through uniform goals and solidarity, we will help student organizations state-wide with resources for successful activism campaigns.
- ROAD Program - Our Rent an Officer to Activate Democrats (ROAD) program allows you to request to have any FCD Executive Board member visit your campus and assist in whatever you feel to be your most urgent initiatives. Simply fill out our form and we hope to see you soon!
- Scott Watch - Holding Rick Scott accountable, from Inauguration Day to 2014. Come visit our website, Facebook page or Twitter for the latest on Rick Scott and his policies as they relate to college students and the state of Florida.
- Vote by Mail - The Democratic Party and Florida College Democrats strongly urge you to vote by mail! It's something everybody can do, and is essential to re-electing President Obama, Senator Nelson, and Democrats up and down the ballot. Please sign up and make sure your vote counts! This is one area where Democrats can absolutely catch up to and beat the Republicans in 2012.
